Club News

The club national event will this year be held on the weekend of the 6th-8th September and is being kindly organised by Dave Bathurst.

As this year will be the 40th Anniversary of the X1/9 Owners Club, we will be returning to where it all started back in 1984 – Castle Combe race circuit.

The weekend will be based at Calne in Wiltshire. There are various Travel Lodges and Premier Inns within the area for those who don’t want to camp. And for thise who do want to camp, then Blackland Lakes Campsite is available.

The weekend will follow the usual pattern of travelling and meeting up on the Friday. Saturday will be spent at Castle Combe race circuit. The event that is on that weekend is the Forge Action Day. We will have a display area within the main paddock area.

Saturday night will be the usual get together for a BBQ meal, quiz and drinks and then Sunday will be visiting the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum in Calne for the usual show and shine, tyre kicking and talking X1/9’s session followed by a ride out to Avebury world heritage site.

It would be great to get a good turnout for the 40th Anniversary of the club.

Saturday 7th September the club will be at Castle Combe Racing Circuit – Forge Action Day.

The club will have an area in the Paddock for display and this also includes a parade lap around the circuit.

This needs to be booked in advance on the Castle Combe website: https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/forge-action-day-2024/

Select the Forge Action Day and use the code X19FORGE24

Cost = £22.50 per car.

Full Instructions for making a booking are attached to this article.

This year the 2024 Donington Historic Festival takes place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of May.
It's a fantastic weekend of racing early in the season, featuring at least seven decades of motorsport in just two days!!

This ranges from pre-war "Mad Jack" action all the way to touring cars from the mid 80s.

The club has registered for a limited number of infield display parking slots, which also gets you a fantastic discount for the event.

Admission for the car+ driver is £13 for either Sat or Sun or £21 for both days

Club member Finn Courtney has kindly volunteered to organise the club display at this event

Club National Event 2022

The Silverstone Classis event will now double up as the club national event for 2022.

Details of the event can be found within the advert. There is a booking code to be used as shown on the advert.

On the Friday 26th, there will be a lap of the circuit at lunchtime for X1/9s at the show. So, if you're booked in you can do a lap of the circuit!

Juliet Quarmby, our illustrious secretary, will be the point of contact for coordinating the event. However, it would be good to have help over the weekend if possible.

UPDATE:

We have had a further update from the venue, due to the importance of this event registrations are being left open as long as possible, please see the comment below:

"Although the display areas have now been mapped out, we do have a limited amount of capacity, so we are keeping the bookings open - subject to availability - to enable as many club members as possible to be part of the event this year."

To commemorate this historic year for the X1/9, we have commissioned a T-shirt and hoodie, available in black with a specially designed logo.
T-shirts are £20 and hoodies £26.
They are available to collect at the Silverstone Classic or free postage after the weekend.

The deadline for ordering is 1st August, please head over to the online shop and place your order today.

It is with great sadness that club has to transmit the news that Bob Spencer has sadly passed away at the age of 92.
