Need some help with wiring 7 years 2 months ago #34550

Hi,
My GF headlight switch has disintegrated and I am no good with complex electrics in cars (relays and stuff).

My MOT is looming and I was wondering is there anyway I can use the earlier 1983 type switch with a wiring mod to work the headlights on my 1989 GF. A secondhand GF switch is £89 on ebay!

I have taken a pic of the wiring on the switch and there are two blocks with three wires each

First block is light blue/ white, white and then light blue/red. The second block of wires are brown, Green, black.

I can't workout what wires feed what lights and which ones connect to each onther as the switch slides from left to right to make the lights pop up, dipped and then main beam.
1983 1500 (currently restoring it)
1989 1500 GF - on the road
2003 Mazda RX8 - modern version of the X1/9

Aspires to a Lancia MonteCarlo (code number by Fiat and Lancia X1/8 then X1/20)

Hi Terry, there's a comprehensive set of wiring diagrams on the website here that might help:

Steve Sharpe created them. You need to be a full member to see them.
