TOPIC: timing belt cover

timing belt cover 1 week 2 days ago #39975

I am about to replace the points. I can see three bolts on the yellow cover, are there any more? Also can you turn the distributor shaft using a spanner on the cam wheel or must it be the crankshaft wheel?

It looks like the cover has four bolts, have a look at the one that’s for sale on eBay. Will you be doing a write up on how to change the points? I think mine need replacing.

I will if no one else has done it.

If you take the plugs out it will be a lot easier to turn the engine over. It is a lot easier to use the crank pulley (although awkward to get at) as the cam wheel is in turning a lot slower than the crank. You run the risk of undoing, or over tightening the securing bolt on the cam wheel
