Electronic Ignition 5 months 4 days ago #42127

I have just improved my Fiat electronic ignition. It is a replacement for the points system and is the one Henk sells but I bought it from Texas much cheaper.
However they overheat owing to the switching module being fitted to the body of the distributor.
I noticed later fiats and Alfa Romeos had a better module that could be remotely mounted.
It is fitted to a thick aluminium heat sink I cut out and fitted in the space to the right of the engine bay.
I re-timed the ignition afterwards and it runs sweetly.
It is easy to replace, much easier than points and many cars from all makes use the same module.
I have a spare nearly new electronic distributor and an old points one in good condition if any one is interested.

Good location, that is why I. fitted my Luminition module there. While it comes with a good heatsinked case, I bolted that to another plate aluminium 5mm thick. For the very same concerns over heat dissipation you had.
