So it’s been about 1 and half years since I acquired my little x1/9 and I thought I would share my progress with you kind gentry. I thought it looked like an easy fix, bit of hoovering bit of polishing ahem.... you can imagine, when I set eyes on the little thing I had falling deep down the rabbit hole and come up smelling for roses. Well it’s been fun, so enough of the background here is the beauty in its early form....

I started by taking the carpet and interior out and cleaning. I power hosed the carpet and cleaned it as best as I could. It smelt like a wet dog inside the car. I think it might have been letting in water as I came across a hole in the passenger footwell so I cut it out and moved on.

Cheers lads, I’m thinking estoril blue. Cutting out the rot, fabricating and welding in new metal next. It’s all new to me so just learning on the job. If anyone is reading this and thinking of restoring a car it’s definitely worth picking a car that has some sort of sentimental value. Definitely gives you the motivation to keep going with it. Any suggestions or comments appreciated cheers

Looking good, this brings back memories with my project keep at it. It'l be worth it in the end. Make sure you check absolutely everywhere for rust.

Like here the rot was bad and took a while to sort (just one example)

Cheers David! I’ll look soon. It’s been slow on the x1/9 front with other commitments. I’ve acquired a rear near side quarter panel although I need some cutting out and welding done to the rear suspension towers.

Hi Paddy, keep at it mate because when your done it should look something like this...

I started my project in 2013 I'm nearing the end now ( I hope :) :) ). I did spend 2 years on the metal work. Yes the earlier picture with the big gapping hole is this car.
