My X19 which I am restoring has developed low oil pressure. It also has quite a bad oil leak. Can anyone recommend the next course of action. I’m going to replace the oil pressure sender and the sump gasket hoping that will solve the issue but and advise you be appreciated

I would check the oil pressure with a calibrated mechanical one before going any further, Any decent garage should be able to do it if you don't have the gear and it could save you doing unnecessary and expensive work. At the least it will confirm whether you do have a low oil pressure problem.

Hi Pete,
I replaced the oil sender 18 months ago. The forum link to the posting is below with the relevant readings I got after fitting the new sender:

For your car, what readings are you getting at the moment?
Is the oil leak coming from the sump gasket?

Replacing the sump gasket is quite an involved job as there are 4 (?) screws that can only be got at by removing the central bar that supports the gear box mount.

Have you replaced your head gasket? Might be worth considering if you haven't already done it.

Sorry the above is a bit rambling, just put down a few thoughts....

cheers

There some info on this link from the UK Fiat forum: www.fiatforum.com/threads/oil-pressure-readings.463489/

At zero psi the sender should read approx 350ohms…the dash gauge is notorious for reading low pressure, as long as the red light goes out you are probably ok but I second getting a garage to test it with a mechanical gauge…

My gauge was reading low - it never got above about 2Bar.
The forum & web thoughts were transducer. I thought damn, just did an oil & filter change!!
So, I bit the bullet and paid Claire the £55+ that her new transducers cost.
Now I have around 4 Bar at idle and even just over 6 Bar at 4,000rpm+ - happy days.
